Ayako Fukui is one of the founders of YHouse, and currently its Program Director. She also works at ARAYA Brain Imaging, helping to coordinate its strategic initiatives, and holds a research associate position at Bryn Mawr College where she earned her Ph.D. in mathematics. She is currently also a visiting scholar at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton.
She previously worked at a private foundation where she successfully developed and managed a large portfolio of innovative interdisciplinary programs on such themes as the origin of the universe and the origin of life, as well as public engagement programs. She has worked with leading scholars, research groups, and institutions to launch new initiatives worldwide, creating new research frontiers and opportunities, identifying and nurturing the next generation of exceptionally talented thinkers and innovators, and establishing new nonprofit organizations.
At YHouse, focusing on the origin and nature of mind, she hopes to help cultivate a culture of open-minded, imaginative exploration that fosters creativity and breakthrough discovery. She is enthusiastic about working across different cultures bringing together scientists, philanthropists, idea leaders, and the public.
