Olaf Witkowski is Chief Architect at YHouse. He is also a research scientist at the Earth-Life Science Institute in Tokyo, and a visiting member at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He received his PhD in from the Computer Science Department at the University of Tokyo, where he studied the synthesis and simulation of living systems and the dynamics of neural networks. He is interested in the origins of cognition and the future of AI.
Olaf Witkowski’s current research is in information dynamics in the origins of cognition, collective intelligence, and complex life. His approach uses large-scale artificial life simulations, evolutionary robotics, machine learning, and information and game theories to better comprehend the emergence of life and integrated cognition, the information flows in the major transitions in evolution, and the future of intelligent societies.
